The WHY:
"for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God". Romans 3:23
Every child born into this life is born with a sin nature. That nature sets up everyone for failure. That sin nature does not possess the capability to identify and pursue God’s purpose in this life. Sin nature puts people on the path of destruction.
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Roaman 6:23)
Sin’s pay is death. Remember that sin is first a nature before an action. God’s gift to mankind is Jesus Christ His Son
God’s Son paid the price for the salvation of your soul on the cross of Calvary about 2000 years ago.
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
God loves you so much that He sent His Son to die on the cross to redeem us from sin, giving us salvation.
The HOW?
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.(Romans 10:9-10)
You must believe in your that Jesus Christ was crucified, died and resurrected on the third day and confess it.
What Next?
15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. (2 Cor. 5:15)
When you confess your sin and believe on the finished work on the cross of Calvary, you are expected to Henceforth live no more for yourself but for HIM who died for you.
You must be Born Again, in other words be born from above. It is the work of the Holy Spirit (John 3:3-5). Note that no child is born a Christian, being born into a Christian family does not make you born again. You must personally confess the Lordship of Jesus Christ to be saved.
